Frequently Asked Questions
When do registrations open for the winter season?
Registrations for the winter season generally open in early February each year and should be submitted before 1 March in order to give yourself the best opportunity to secure a place in one of Narooma FC's teams.
Registrations can be submitted HERE. Instructions on how to complete your registration in Dribl are available HERE.
How much does it cost to register?
The cost of registration depends on various factors, including the level of sponsorship Narooma FC has been able to attract in any given year and the amount of volunteers willing to assist with the operations of the club. The good news is, the cost is drastically reduced if you use a NSW Government Active Kids Voucher.
I completed my registration, but received advice that I've been placed on a waiting list. What does that mean?
Narooma FC caps the number of registrations it can automatically accept in each age group in order to manage team numbers. For example, a Youth Boys team is only allowed to play a maximum of 16 players in each game. If the club were to accept 17 registrations, one player would have to miss the game each week.
If the waiting list in any given age group grows to the extent that another team can be added, the registration requests for players on the waiting list will be accepted. Note that this is a common occurence in the younger age groups, where team sizes are much smaller.
Can I choose which team my child is assigned to? Or request they be placed in a team with friends?
You are welcome to make requests regarding team allocation. However, the Narooma FC committee reserves the right to deny any such request. The sheer volume of requests received each year makes it almost impossible to service every player's wishes. Above all else, Narooma FC strives to ensure teams are balanced and players receive the most enjoyable experience possible.
What time/day is training? The training time/day is generally set by the coach of each team. Narooma FC cannot confirm those details until registrations have been submitted, teams formed and coaches assigned.
How far do I have to travel for games?
As part of the Eurobodalla Football Association, Narooma FC junior teams compete against other clubs in the region, including Batemans Bay FC, Bodalla SC, Broulee FC, Clyde United SC and Moruya FC. Games are played on Sundays on a home and away basis.
Narooma FC's All Age Women play games on Wednesday nights, while the men's competition takes place on Friday nights. All games take place at either Moruya, Bodalla or Dalmeny (Narooma FC's home ground) under lights.
There wasn't a team in my child's age group last season. Will there be one this year?
Narooma FC must nominate teams in each age group in the beginning of March each year. If there are insufficient registrations in a given age group, Narooma FC cannot nominate a team. That is why it is important to submit your registration as soon as possible once registrations have opened.
If an age group does not attract sufficient registrations to form a team, the Narooma FC committee will offer any possible alternatives to each of the impacted players. This may include offering a place in an older age group, or recommending a transfer to another club (where feasible).
Should the Narooma FC committee be unable to place a player in a team, a refund of registration fees will be offered. Note that Active Kids Vouchers cannot be refunded, but can be transferred to another provider of the player's choice.
Where can i get Narooma FC playing shorts and socks?
Playing shorts and socks will be available to purchase prior to the first game of the season. Keep an eye out for advice via email and Facebook regarding specific times and days. Due to the low number of volunteers available to conduct sales, availability outside of the set timeframes is extremely limited. Playing shorts are $20 and socks $10.
I haven't received a playing shirt. Where can I get one?
Playing shirts for each team are distributed to all coaches prior to the first game of the season. All playing shirts remain the property of Narooma FC and are collected at the conclusion of each season.
What other equipment do I need?
All players must wear shin pads and football boots for training and games. Narooma FC does not sell these items, but they can be purchased from most sports shops.
Note that ALL jewellery must be removed prior to training and games.
When does the season start and finish?
The season usually commences with a gala day for all age groups (including All Age) in Moruya in late March/early April. The home and away competition generally starts immediately afterwards, in early April. Training for all teams commences in early/mid March, depending on the coach.
Non-competitive age groups (i.e. under 6 to under 9) conclude their season around mid-August. Under 10s and above continue on to late August, with a finals series running through to mid-September for eligible teams.
How do I find out where and when my game is?
The Eurobodalla Football Association uses Dribl to manage its competitions. Download the Dribl app to your phone, search for your team and follow it. Fixtures will also be available via www.naroomafc.com.au/fixtures once the draws for each season have been created and published. You can also contact your coach for confirmation.
It has been raining, is my training/game on?
In the event that adverse weather forces the closure of grounds, Narooma FC will post advice to its Facebook page and/or via email as soon as possible. As responsibility for managing ground availability rests with the Eurobodalla Shire Council, please refrain from contacting members of the Narooma FC committee directly to seek early advice on training/game cancellations.
